Great expedition today! Thanks to you we managed to collect data for our monitoring programs, including sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus), Risso's dolphins (Grampus griseus), short-finned pilot whales (Globicephala macrorhynchus) and common dolphins (Delphinus delphis).
Today we saw two species that are resident in the Azores, the sperm whale and the risso's dolphin. The pilot whale is a seasonal species that we only see in the summertime. In the Azores, there are two species of pilot whales, that are mainly distinguished by the length of the pectoral fin.

Grande expedição hoje! Graças a vós conseguimos recolher dados para os nossos programas de monitorização ambiental, incluindo cachalotes (Physeter macrocephalus), golfinhos de risso (Grampus griseus), baleia-piloto-tropical (Globicephala macrorhynchus) e golfinhos comuns (Delphinus delphis).
Hoje tivémos duas espécies que são residentes nos Açores, que é o caso dos cachalotes e dos golfinhos de risso, e uma espécie que é apenas avistada no verão, a baleia piloto. Ocorrem duas espécies de baleia piloto nos Açores, que são essencialmente distinguidas pelo comprimento da barbatana peitoral.
