Great expedition today! Thanks to you we managed to collect data for our monitoring programs, including sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus).


We spent our afternoon with one huge male sperm whale and a female, always side by side.

Normally, the males stay around 2 hours underwater and they are very difficult to track, but this afternoon the male was doing dives for around 46 minutes and was keeping the same direction.

Grande expedição hoje! Graças a vós conseguimos recolher dados para os nossos programas de monitorização ambiental, incluindo cachalotes (Physeter macrocephalus).


Estivemos esta tarde com um grande cachalote macho, talvez por volta dos 16 metros, sempre acompanhado com uma fêmea.

Os cachalotes machos, normalmente, são mais difíceis de seguir pois tendem a ficar mais tempo debaixo de água, até 2 horas e não costumam manter uma rota definida.
