|09-08-2019 9am| Sperm whales and 2 species of dolphins in the Azores

In this morning we went out guided by the lookouts of Faial and Pico islands to find Sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus). We saw 7 whales and we could collect a good sample of feces from one of the them.

Not only that but 2 pods of dolphins: one about 40-50 Atlantic-spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) plenty of juveniles and another about 30-40 Striped dolphins (Stenella coeruleoalba). Besides cetaceans, we also saw a Loggerhead Seaturtle (Caretta caretta), Cory's Shearwaters (Calonectris borealis), Common terns (Sterna hirundo) and Portuguese man o'wars (Physalia physalis). Azorean biodiversity!

Thank you all for your preference. We hope you enjoyed the adventure.
