|08082020pm| No social distance for the spotted dolphins

Afternoon arrived and the wind slowed down, allowing a smooth trip!


We were able to sight 5 different sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) and one of them was a small juvenile. All of them were kind and showed us their tails!


After, we went to see a big and friendly group of spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis). This species is well known for their friendly behavior where they get close to the boat and stayed like this during the entire sighting.


During the sighting, they socialized a lot with each other and with the boat, so we think they really don't know anything about social distance. ;)


We also saw them hunting!


The group was very big, had at least 120 animals and so many tiny babies. The dolphins only have one baby at a time and the babies when born they can be smaller than 1 meter.

Com o início da tarde o vento acalmou e tivemos uma expedição tranquila!


Conseguimos avistar 5 cachalotes (Physeter macrocephalus) e um deles era um juvenil. Todos eles fizeram a honra de nos mostrarem as suas caudas!


Depois de avistarmos esta baleia de dentes fomos ver um grupo grande e amigável de golfinhos pintados (Stenella frontalis). Esta espécie é bastante conhecida pelo seu comportamento amigável, sendo que, em praticamente todos os avistamentos, eles aproximam-se do barco e ficam connosco durante o tempo todo.


Durante o avistamento foi possível observar os animais a socializar entre eles e com o barco, então achamos que eles sabem muito pouco sobre distanciamento social ;)


E também conseguimos vê-los a caçar!


O grupo era bastante grande, tendo pelo menos 120 animais e muitas crias pequenas. Os golfinhos apenas têm uma cria de cada vez e quando eles nascem têm menos de 1 metro de comprimento.
