|17072020| Windy expedition full of sperm whales

New day, new adventure!

Today we found a group of sperm #whales (Physeter macrocephalus) between #Faial and #Pico.

At first they were a bit shy and doing some shallow dives. Nonetheless, we still manage to see a calf! The sperm whales when they born they can have 3.5 to 4.5 meters long and weight about 1 ton. Big baby right?!

After a while we saw a pod of 6 sperms whales being very still at the surface, the name for this behaviour is called rafting and it's normally done after long dives.

Thank you for joining us! Enjoy and share the photos from our expedition.

See you soon!
