|17052021| How high can it go?!

|ENG|

Today we were lucky to see the biggest animal on earth!

We saw an amazing blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus)!

The whale was super calm all the time and did some shallow dives.

The best cue to find a whale is looking for its blow.

The blue whale is the animal with the biggest blow, reaching up to 12 meters!

After, we saw a big group of common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) with a lot of cory's shearwater (Calonectris borealis) hunting. The common dolphins are one of the resident species in the Azores, so we can see them all year round.

On our way back to Faial we sighted a mako shark (Isurus oxyrinchus) eating a swordfish. Such an incredible moment!

Thank you for joining Naturalist research team! Share the photos from our expedition.

See you soon!
