During our long trip, we were thrilled by a surprise sighting of Common Dolphins (Delphinus delphis). Later, near Lajes do Pico, with the help of a land spotter and our hydrophone, we located a female Sperm Whale (Physeter macrocephalus) ! She was resting at the surface after an impressive 45-minute dive into the abyss.
