|20220430pm| Sperm whales on the North of Pico | Cachalotes a norte do Pico, Azores

Great expedition today! Thanks to you, we managed to collect data for our monitoring programs, including sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) and common dolphins (Delphinus delphis).

The weather was a bit rough, but we manage to see 8 sperm whales, at least!

The sperm whales were probably hunting, staying at the surface for almost 10 minutes, and then deep diving. At one point we had 4 sperm whales at the surface, one of them was a small calf.

Grande expedição hoje! Graças a vós conseguimos recolher dados para os nossos programas de monitorização ambiental, incluindo cachalotes (Physeter macrocephalus) e golfinhos comuns (Delphinus delphis).

O mar estava agitado, mas conseguimos ver, no mínimo, 8 cachalotes.

Os cachalotes, em principio estariam a caçar, permanecendo à superfície durante quase 10 minutos, mergulhando de seguida. A certa altura tívemos 4 cachalotes à superfície, todos lado a lado, sendo que um deles era um pequena cria.
