|20220331| Great sea conditions to see whales and dolphins | Óptimas condições para observar baleias

Great expedition today! Thanks to you, we managed to collect data for our monitoring programs, including common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) and sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus).
The sea was perfect today, with no wind and small waves. Perfect conditions to find some whales and dolphins!
The first sighting was a group of common dolphins! One of the resident species of the Azores and the most friendly species. With our hydrophone, we could hear their whistles as well as the clicks.
We also got to see 3 big sperm whales and all of their tails!
Between the sperm whales' dives, we saw a portuguese man'o'war (Physalia physalis). and cory's shearwater (Calonectris borealis).

Grande expedição hoje! Graças a vós conseguimos recolher dados para os nossos programas de monitorização ambiental, incluindo golfinhos comuns (Delphinus delphis) e cachalotes (Physeter macrocephalus).
O mar hoje estava perfeito, sem vento e com ondas pequenas. Condições ideais para encontrar baleias e golfinhos!
O primeiro avistamento foi um grupo de golfinhos comuns! Uma das espécies residentes dos Açores e a mais amigável. Com o nosso hidrofone, pudemos ouvir os seus assobios, bem como os cliques.
Também pudemos ver 3 grandes cachalotes e todas as suas caudas!
Entre os mergulhos dos cachalotes, vimos uma caravela portuguesa (Physalia physalis). e cagarros (Calonectris borealis).
