Another day, another adventure!

Today we saw two species that very common to see in the Azores. Can you guess which species are?

If you thought about sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) and common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) you were correct!

We saw two different sperm whales, that were doing some shallow dives, so no tails for our catalogue today.

Then we saw a group of common dolphins with 30 to 45 individuals and we think in the middle of the group were also some striped dolphins individuals.

Their main behaviour during the sighting was socializing and bow-riding.

Mais um dia, mais uma aventura!

Hoje avistámos duas espécies que são bastante comuns de ser observadas nos Açores. Consegue adivinhar que espécies são estas?

Se pensou nos cachalotes (Physeter macrocephalus) e nos golfinhos comuns (Delphinus delphis), pensou acertadamente.

Vimos dois cachalotes diferentes, que estavam a fazer mergulhos pouco profundos, por isso não tivémos a sorte de conseguir fotografias das caudas para adicionar ao nosso catálogo.

Também vimos um grupo de golfinhos com 30 a 45 indivíduos, em que tinha alguns indivíduos de golfinhos riscados. Durante o avistamento, os principais comportamentos que registámos foi socialização entre indivíduos e navegação à proa do barco.
