|28-09-2019| Dolphin day

This morning we had bad weather conditions. However, people wanted to try and we succeeded. Thanks to the lookout, we could reach a big group of 150-200 Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) that were feeding in the North of Faial. We could see a small subgroup of them socializing too.

Lots of seabirds like seagulls and Cory's shearwaters (Calonectris borealis) were taking advantage of the fish too. Also, a Loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) was basking at the surface.

On our way back to Horta we had an encounter with a pod of 20 Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) that were resting and socializing.

Thank you for joining our team. You can enjoy and share the pictures that our biologist Maria took during the trip.
