|20230406| First sighting of false killer whales!!

What a great trip! Thank you for supporting our research and helping us collect data on three beautiful species of cetaceans: common dolphin (Delphinus delphis), bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), and the first sightings of false killer whales (Pseudorca crassidens) this year!!

The day began with a cloudy sky but that didn’t stop us from finding animals! A small pod of common dolphins was searching for prey in the north of Faial Island, with long dives and a couple of Cory’s shearwaters nearby.

Then, we heard some good news! A group of five to eight false killer whales was spotted further north! Moved north and what beautiful to remember this day!
