About Peniche

Peniche is located at 1h30 hours by car from Lisbon, a maritime peninsula with the nearby small peninsula of Baleal, long sandy beaches and a strong fishing culture and world top surf wave. Adorning Peniche is the archipelago of Berlengas (with Berlenga Grande, Estela and Farilhões islands).

How to get to Peniche - and move around

There are many direct flights to Lisbon from major European cities, East Coast of the USA, Asia, South America and Africa. From Lisbon to Peniche it is recommended to rent a car, the trip on the A8 highway takes about 1h30. Taking into account the geography of Peniche, it is recommended to use a versatile car to move between the long sandy beaches, go to restaurants, watch a sunset or enjoy the nightlife in the nearby Bay of Baleal.

The average air temperature ranges between 10°C and 25°C.

The majority of Peniche people now work in tourism or fishing related activities. In general they are accessible with plenty knowledge. English might not be easily spoken by elder people, however it is well spoken along the younger locals.
