About Lisbon 
Lisbon is one of the oldest cities in the world, and the oldest in Western Europe. The period of the Discoveries and colonization left castles, palaces and marked the architecture of the streets of Lisbon and the surrounding area. The recent development of the country led to the modernization of the city. With sunshine and a mild climate all year round, and "planted" in front of the Tagus estuary, Lisbon is a warm and safe destination for cultural and natural tours for all!

Best time to visit Lisboa
Lisbon has a Subtropical-Mediterranean climate (Köppen climate classification: Csa), with short and very mild winters and warm summers. Between April to September temperature range from 16ºC to 35ºC. From October to March you can expect mild winters , with temperatures between 8ºC to 18ºC, and some rain. Sunshine duration is 2.806 hours per year, with an average of 11.4 hours of sunshine per day in July. Lisbon enjoys one of the most optimal number of hours of daylight in Europe!

Tagus Estuary

Join our ornithologist birding through amazing nature spots around the Lisbon area. Marine species, waders, passeriformes and winterers will be looked for. A list of possible species is given below.

Observable Species:

Here we can observe the Greater Flamingo, Pied Avocet, Glossy Ibis, Purple Heron, Black-winged Kite, Collared Pratincole, Common Hoopoe, Iberian Grey Shrike, Iberian Magpie, Iberian Chiffchaff, Eurasian Oystercatcher and a great diversity of gulls and terns.

Sado Estuary

Join our ornithologist birding through amazing nature spots around the Sado estuary. The Tagus and Sado Estuaries are important wetland areas for migrant birds and they are also a nesting sites for several species. Waders and marine species, fresh water, migrating birds and winterers will be on the list. Possible species are indicated below.

Observable Species:

Like in Tagus, there is a great species diversity, including also Little Terns, Gannets, Ringed Plover, Little Stint, Common Scoter, Turnstone, Common Greenshank, Sanderling and Black-headed Gull.

5 DAY BIRDING - BIRD RACE 
Western Paleartic & Migratory Birds

Lisbon, Alentejo & Algarve

Join our ornithologist on a 5 days tour “all included” through the best birding sites of the south- western Europe. Delight yourself with the unique light and photogeny of inland and coastal landscapes of the Natural Reserves/Parks of Lisbon, Alentejo and Algarve. Explore a diversity of habitats at short distances with extended species lists, and a well known migratory route to Northern Africa. Enjoy the sun and regional delicacies at the end of our birding sessions. Contribute with data collection for ongoing conservation programs. Weekly tours with a max of 8 person.

The 5 days tour rate is 1380€ per person in double room (single rooms adds 140€; VAT included). Accommodation at selected sites, with breakfast, dinner at restaurants and lunch at local cafés and restaurants. Transfer in van with air-conditioning, insurances, park fees. Included: English, Spanish and Portuguese speaking ornithologist with high knowledge on local and migratory species and habitats and a degree on Biology and conservation. Data collection for ongoing research and conservation projects. Telescope and binoculars are provided. Not included: Flights, extra meals, tourism taxes.

Purple Gallinule, Red Knot, Common Pochard, Tufted Duck, Black-necked Grebe, Great Crested Grebe, Common Kingfisher, Common Moorhen, Sardinian Warbler, Short-toed Treecreeper, Bar-tailed Godwit, Common Redshank, Eurasian Wryneck and Eurasian Teal.

Day 5. Castro Verde, Alentejo.

Great Bustard, White Stork, Montagu's Harrier, Lesser Kestrel, Black-bellied Sandgrouse, European Roller, Calandra Lark, European Bee-eater, Rufous Bush Robin and Black-eared Wheatear.
