Marine Biology Azores - Field Course

Spring 2019, 16-22 June
A “Hands-on” Field course for everyone looking for real experiences in the marine environment. Oriented for young scholars or anyone from other fields, looking for contact with wildlife and marine research methods and conservation. Lead by researchers from Lisbon and the Azores Universities, the course will be held in Faial Island, surrounded by 450 seamounts ca. 2000 km from Lisbon, Portugal – a Hot-Spot for marine biodiversity. From the largest whale in the planet – the Blue whale, down to the 2000 m depth Rainbow Hydrothermal fields. Scientists from all over the world regularly explore and collaborate with local scientists in the fields of cetology, pelagic ecology, ornithology and deep-water ecosystems.
