What a day! Today we were amazingly surprised by 6 different species and all of that in one morning!
Our spotter had seen some whales and our Naturalists were more than ready, so we went for our adventure!
First we saw a small group of risso's dolphin (Grampus griseus), with 10 to 12 animals. After we saw 2 big sei whales (Balaenoptera borealis) wandering around, maybe looking for some food.
Then in our way to see a sperm whale (Physeter macrocepahlus) that our spotter had found we saw a group of pilot whales (Globicephala sp.) resting, they were very still at the surface.
We let them rest and we went to see our sperm whale. We arrive right in time to see the whale showing the tail.
After our spotter said that were another species nearby! For our surprise it was a group of 4 to 6 animals of northern bottlenose whales (Hyperoodon ampullatus).
The beaked whales are normally shy so it's very difficult to see them, but we had a moment where they stopped, not too far away from the boat, and allowed us to enjoy their presence.
