What a great trip! Thank you for supporting our research and helping us collect data on Humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) and Risso's dolphins (Grampus griseus) and common dolphins (Delphinus delphis).
Yesterday we had a great surprise from our lookouts! A Humpback whale close to shore on the north coast of Faial! we headed out at sea to try to spot them! As soon as we arrived a pod of common dolphins appeared to say hello close to our boat! We started looking for the whale, but instead, we had an amazing surprise Risso's dolphins in the area!! but we didn't give up, we continued looking! and it paid off! Two adult humpback whales were sighted moving east close to shore!
