Sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) is now the whale species most sighting this year in the Azores. On the 9th of July, a pod of females was diving in the area of Faial Island.
Here are some pictures of the diving moments of these beautiful animals. They usually show the tail in order to reach a good angle to go down. Some animals have a very characteristic fluke. Watch this amazing diving sequence of one of the very old female sperm whales.
