Definitely, a wonderful way to start this new month!
Weekend with a sunny day and off we go to a new adventure.
When we arrived in the area where our spotter saw a group of sperm whales (Physeter macrocephalus) the animals where deep diving, they can be on average 40 minutes underwater, so we had to wait a little bit.
After a few minutes, we saw our first blow!
We saw 4 sperm whales :)
When we were waiting for a sperm whale to come to the surface we spotted a group of pilot whales (Globicephala sp.), the group was a bit dispersed but we saw four animals together, including a calf.
After seeing the pilot whales we went to meet some dolphins that our spotter had found. It was a group of friendly spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) :)
To our surprise, just a few meters from the dolphins, we found a sei whale (Balaeonoptera borealis)! The sei whale belongs to the group of baleen whales, where they filter the water through their baleen plates.
What a day! Four different species in one morning!

Um dia solarengo e lá vamos nós para uma nova aventura :)
Quando chegamos à área em que o vigia tinha avistado um grupo de cachalotes (Physeter macrocephalus), os animais ainda estavam a mergulhar, mergulhos que podem durar em média 40 minutes, então tivemos que ficar à espera.
Depois de alguns minutos vimos o nosso primeiro sopro!
Vimos no total 4 cachalotes :)
Enquanto esperavamos por um cachalote vir à superficíe avistámos um grupo de baleias piloto (Globicephala sp.), o grupo estava um pouco disperso mas conseguivemos ver 4 animais juntos, incluindo uma cria.
Depois de vermos das baleias piloto fomos ao encontro de golfinhos que o nosso vigia tinha encontrado. Era um grupo dos amigáveis golfinhos pintados(Stenella frontalis) :)
Para nossa surpresa, apenas a alguns metros dos golfinhos, encontrámos uma baleia sardinheira (Balaeonoptera borealis)! A baleia sardinheira pertence ao grupo de baleias de barbas, ou seja, são baleias que possuem barbas na boca e a alimentação é realizada através da filtração.
Mas que dia! Quatro espécies diferentes apenas em uma manhã!
